Dear God...

On Wednesday we had another really bad storm. There was a lot of thunder and lightning and Savannah was a little scared. As I wrote prior to this she has developed a fear of thunder. However, this particular night, she seemed to be doing ok. If we close all of the blinds it definitely helps her fear for some reason. Well, Brian came home really really late that night (like 11:30ish) because of problems at work so I got to put her to bed. Her nightly routine starts with brushing teeth, then taking all of her various medicines (poor baby) and then going to the bathroom. After this we read two books that she picks out and then her "special" book (a devotional). After all of this we turn off the lights (but, of course, the closet light stays on) and then she says her prayers. On this night, she starts by thanking God for various people in her life, then she says, really quietly, please God, make the thunder go away, Amen. I was thrilled to hear her take the step to pray for something like this without any prompting (like, what should we do when we are scared). How amazing is it that even at this early age she is beginning to understand that she can talk to God about her fears. And, do you know what the most amazing part was? As soon as I walked out the door, I mean, like, as soon as I closed it, the last roll of thunder sounded and it stopped for the rest of the night. :) Thank you God!
